Our detection devices allow us to assess electrical anomalies due to the presence of water or metallic resources; PS is a very effective method in association with electrical soundings for the search for groundwater and can prove useful in mineral exploration.
Spontaneous polarization
We start from a simple principle: the nature of electrical charges in the natural environment. Hydrological and hydrogeological flows influence materials; the interaction of water with rocks produces interactions at the ion level that depend on the amount of water, the temperature, and the composition of the material.
We will identify this dependence using electrical potential measurements, employing non-polarizable electrodes to measure potential changes. Generally, the acquisition for this method aims to produce a map, but it can be supplemented by profiling along a section of interest.
We process and interpret maps to provide understandable and useful results, especially in the mining field for the detection of metal deposits, geothermal energy, and water resource exploration.
The equipment used in prospecting is shown in the figure. We can combine methods and configurations to provide more comprehensive results.
